FUND DRIVE / DONATIONS

 

The fire department receives most of its operating capital through its annual fund drive and other fund raising activities it holds throughout the year. The money we receive allows us to pay the normal operating expenses of our organization. Some examples of our expenditures are refreshments for meetings and drills, community services, the operation of of Junior Fire Department, scholarship programs at local schools, and support for those in need.

Each year we send out an appeal to all of the residents of the West Sayville - Oakdale Fire District. This is done by mail, and includes an envelope bearing our name. The return envelope is addressed to us at 80 Main St., West Sayville, NY 11796. If we have not heard from you ONE reminder notice will be sent out a couple of months later. This is the only solicitation you will receive from us via mail. If you are able, we appreciate your support. We do not keep track of who donates for proposes regarding response to emergencies. We respond to all calls for assistance.

We never solicit money via the telephone. This is very important as there have been companies who have tried to solicit funds using are name, or implying that the funds would benefit the local fire department. If you receive a telephone solicitation, or any solicitation that you are suspicious of,  please try to get a name and phone number, and contact us immediately.
